When we booked our trip to the top end, the very first thing on our list of 'Must Do's' was experiencing and getting up close to some Crocs 🐊! There is something about them, their size, strength and predatory instincts that is both fascinating and terrifying. The thought of getting up close & personal with a CROC and a chance to feed, hold and experience them was something we were VERY excited and perhaps slightly scared by.....😂😳😬
Luckily we found, Crocosaurus Cove, located in Darwin in the the City's centre. They offers their visitors a unique opportunity to feed some of Australia’s largest Saltwater Crocodiles, and interact with a variety of its reptiles as part of a 1.5hour fully guided tour of the attraction.
The full experience exceeded our expectations by far and included a lot more interaction of the reptiles than I was expecting. It definitely got our hearts racing and it was great to a learn so much information about these giant predators and Australian reptiles.
Some of the highlights included...
🌟 For our first animal encounter, we got to handle and hold an 18month old crocodile, during this time we got to take our own pictures and videos.
🌟Next we got VIP access to the Fishing for Crocs platform and the baby crocodile handling area as part of your tour.
This experience was actually so fun and one of my favourite parts, these snappy little ones sure did have some power!!!
We each got to have 2 turns to feed the 18month - 2 year old Crocodiles.
🌟THEN came the BIG CROC! Under the supervision of our experienced crocodile handlers, we got to participate in feeding an adult Saltwater crocodile and gain a greater knowledge of one of the world’s most deadly predators. We were lucky enough to feed 'Bert' the Croc made famous for his appearance in the movie Crocodile Dundee!! We individually got to feed him!
🌟 The final encounters were meeting some of the more unique reptiles of the Top End as part of the tours VIP access to the Reptile House. We handled multiple reptiles including snakes and lizards and we were allowed to take our own photos and videos of this experience.
