From the moment you arrive and walk through the giant gates of The Fortress Resort and Spa you are met with the highest level of service and luxury.
The staff were very quick to welcome us with a home made ginger-ale welcome drink, and help us through the easy and digital checkin process.
We were then met by our Butler who took us for a tour of our rooms!
We were in a Beach Pool Suite and adjacent Beach Suite.
The size of the rooms was incredible, spacious is an understatement!
The two stroy Beach Pool Suite, had its very own plunge pool that looked out directly onto the beach. Sea views were seen from both stories and on the upper level you find your Master Suite with a lofted ceiling, split level second lounge and a HUGE opulent Bathroom.
The room had it ALL including wine fridge, bar area, coffee machine, multiple TV'S and seating areas, daybed on your patio and huge wardrobe space.
The Beach Suite, was set out over one split level, and offered a great sea view, split level lounge area, another HUGE bathroom with free standing bath.

Where do I start with the FOOD!
We stayed on a half board package, so we had our breakfast and dinner included. Each day was a new chance to try something new and the selection was incredible, from buffets to a huge ala carte menu, we were always spoilt for choice.
BREAKFAST - each day we either had a buffet or huge selection from the ala carte menu to choose from. There were live cooking stations and all the essentials you could ask for.
LUNCHES - We ate poolside each day, and the selction of meals was huge, my personal favourite was the club sandwich or the beef burger!
DINNERS - Each night we had a different theme and chance to experience the different cuisines.
Night 1 - We enjoyed a 3 course meal chosen from the Ala carte menu, the selection was incredible and the food divine!
Night 2 - Was a traditional Sri Lankan Buffet, complete with a Cocktail Party with Sri Lankan Dancers and Fire performers, what more can I say but WOW!
Night 3 - Was a special treat, we ate at the Salty Snapper and sat tepinyaki style while we watched an award winning Chef prepare our Seafood Feast!
DAY SPA: The Fortress's Day Spa, Spa Naturel, offers signature treatments as well as customised Ayurveda packages, giving you the chance to experience authentic Sri Lankan healing rituals. Utilising all natural herbs and oils, this form of holistic wellness is administered by a specialist ayurvedic doctor who helps you select a package that suits your specific needs and Prakriti (body constitution).
GYMNASIUM: The Fortress has a state-of-the-art fitness centre which features a range of cardio & weight training equipment for you to use. This includes upright and recumbent bikes, treadmills, cross-trainers, multi stations, dumbbell racks along with FID (6 positions), fold-up Olympic combo and adjustable ab benches. Personal trainers are also on hand to help in your exercise routines or for yoga sessions, while there is also a steam room where you can truly unwind after your workout.

Nothing was ever too much trouble, the staff all took the time to get to know us and we were warmly greated on every occasion.
As soon as you arrive at the pool the staff quickly set up a day bed for you and supplied you with as many towels as needed.
Waiters regularily checked on us for drinks and food and we never felt like we werent 100% being looked after EVER!.
